kintsugi. (n.) (v. phr.) "to repair with gold"; the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken.
Since I began this piece in 2014, this plate has fallen and broken twice more. I continue to repair it, each time it becomes more beautiful, more broken, more precious. I'm starting to believe it will keep breaking till it turns completely gold.
Just like us.
Note: The print is a 1:1 scale to the original, meaning my hands are actually this size!
Original: Ceramic & Gold Pigment
Each piece is reproduced using Giclee print, on acid-free, non-reflective & archival quality fine art paper (310gsm).
29.7cm × 29.7cm
